Fall Gathering

Marsh Creek Brethren in Christ Church wishes to offer an evening of light, laughter and encouragement. Join in for an evening of snacks, songs and stories on Sunday evening, Oct. 22, from 5-7 p.m. Share your stories to make people laugh, be encouraged and remember the goodness and mercy of the Lord.

The event is free, and will be held at the church pavilion, weather permitting. (Or move indoors if need be.) Call Pastor Dan at 814-625-3544 for questions or directions, or send an email to [email protected].

Revival Services

LOGANTON — Evangelist George Holley will be leading Revival Services at the Loganton Wesleyan Church from Sunday, Oct. 22, through Wednesday, Oct. 25. Everyone is invited to join church members for this special ministry. Service time on Sunday is at 10:30 a.m., and then each evening at 6:30 p.m.

Annual Light the Night

The Nittany Valley Fellowship of Churches will hold its annual Light the Night event from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Walker Township Park. The free family event features games, treat bags for kids, hot dogs, hot chocolate, cider and more! Kids are invited to dress in costumes, but not scary costumes. It is an evening to enjoy some time with family and community. The Nittany Valley Fellowship consists of several churches of various denominations in the Nittany Valley area. The churches work together to help various causes in the communities they serve.

Annual Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner

JERSEY SHORE — St. Luke’s Catholic Church, located at 118 Kendall Avenue, Jersey Shore, is hosting their annual pork and sauerkraut dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The cost of the meal is $12 for adults, $6 for children 5-12 and children 4 and under are free. The meal will consist of pork, sauerkraut, knockwurst, mashed potatoes, dumplings, apple sauce, bread, dessert coffee and tea.

Soup sale

Swissdale United Methodist Church is holding a vegetable beef soup sale on Friday, Oct. 27, from 12:30-3 p.m. The cost is $7 per quart. Please call 570-660-7965 before Oct. 27 to order, otherwise it will be first-come, first-served.

Turkey Dinner

AVIS — Family-style Turkey Dinner with all the fixings of a Thanksgiving meal including turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce and dessert will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 4-6 p.m., by the Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect Ave., Avis.

Eat in or take out meals are available for a suggested donation of $12 for adults; $5 for children age 6 and over; and children 5 and under can eat for free. Call 570-753-8137 for additional info or to reserve meals.

Soup sale

MILL HALL — Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, will hold its annual beef vegetable soup sale on Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon. The price is $7 a quart and the church will provide takeout containers. Orders may be placed by calling the church at 570-726-4112. Please leave a message with your order and include your phone number and the number of quarts you would like.

Ladies Day Out

FLEMINGTON — Hillview Wesleyan Church, 1200 W. 4th St., Lock Haven, will be holding a free Ladies Day Out on Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Building. This event is a relaxing and refreshing day to get away from the busyness of life and relax with friends, share laughter and stories and spend time with God. The event’s theme is “Who Ya Gonna Call?” and will include a light lunch and a goodie bag. To register, please email [email protected] or call 570-769-6765. The deadline to register is Oct. 27.

Fall fair

FLEMINGTON — St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington will be holding a Fall Fair, Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be an indoor yard sale, vendors and a raffle. Homemade pies, desserts, homemade soups and sandwiches will also be served. St. Luke’s is also holding a food drive the entire month of October for the Lock Haven Salvation Army Food Bank, to help the organization in their Thanksgiving Food drive.

Fall Bazaar

RAUCHTOWN — St. James Lutheran Church, Rt. 880 and Middle Rd. in Rauchtown, will be holding their annual Fall Bazaar on Sat., Nov. 4, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be Christmas items for sale as well as fresh baked goods and homemade soup. A hot lunch will also be available for purchase. Several white elephant tables will be packed with antiques and collectibles and there will be gift baskets raffled off. Everyone is invited to attend. And, all are welcome to attend regular Sunday services at 10 a.m. each Sunday.

Bring a Friend to Church

FLEMINGTON — Sunday, Nov. 5, is Bring a Friend to Church Sunday and an Open House at Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St. Join members for morning worship at 8:45 a.m. followed by light refreshments. Tours of the church building will also be given out to those who wish to see the building.

Grief Support Group

MACKEYVILLE — Grief Support Group, to help those in area communities that are dealing with a loss, will meet Wednesday, Nov. 8, and every second Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m. at the Mackeyville United Methodist Church. Anyone who grieves the loss of loved ones is invited to join.

Holly Mart

LOCK HAVEN — Holy Spirit Parish will be holding its annual Holly Mart Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Lock Haven Catholic School, 311 W. Water St., Lock Haven.

The spacious, handicap-accessible gymnasium will feature theme baskets, silent auction, new-to-you booth, baked goods and food. Santa will also be visiting on Sunday.

Pot Pie Sale

WINGATE — Bald Eagle Valley Community United Methodist Church will hold a pot pie sale on Monday, Nov. 13, beginning at 4 p.m. Your choice of ham or chicken pot pie can be pre-ordered by calling Janette anytime before that Monday morning at 814-883-0893. Freezable quart containers filled with pot pie are $8 each and can be picked up in the parking lot starting at 4 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, until sold out. The church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, just behind the Sheetz in Wingate.

Bible Study

FLEMINGTON — Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., will host Sunday night Bible study beginning from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The study will take place for several weeks and is focusing on the book of Daniel. Everyone is invited to attend.

Invite to Services

DUNNSTOWN — Dunnstown United Methodist Church, 59 Church St., invites the public to worship with us each Sunday. Bible Study begins at 8:45 a.m., followed by Sunday School at 9 a.m. and the Morning Worship Service begins at 10 a.m. Call Joe at 570-748-9139 for more info about upcoming church events.

Sing-alongs

MILL HALL — Mill Hall Presbyterian Church holds sing-alongs the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Each runs from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary and features old favorites. The public is invited. Songbooks are provided with Kay Bossert leading and Pam Blesh playing the piano.

Hymn sings

MILL HALL — Those who are interested in singing old hymns that our grandparents sang are invited to sing at Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. For questions, call 570-726-4112 and leave a message.

The church is handicap accessible with lots of parking behind the church. Refreshments are served before the service. You’re invited to worship with us each Sunday morning.

Coffee club & Youth Group

FLEMINGTON — Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., holds Coffee Club every Thursday morning from 8:30-10 a.m. Enjoy coffee and fellowship with others.

The church holds its Youth Group meetings on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. The group is open to grades kindergarten through fourth and also fifth through twelfth. The meeting starts off each Thursday with a meal, followed by a lesson and game time. Call 570-726-8009 for more details.

Local Worship Services

LOCK HAVEN — Big Woods Bible Church, 241 S. Hanna St., Lock Haven, hosts its weekly worship services at 9 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday School begins at 10:45 a.m.

First Church of Christ, 330 N. Vesper St., Lock Haven, invites everyone who wishes to worship Jesus to attend weekly services at 9 a.m.

Charlton Chapel, 46 Church Hill Road, Lock Haven, an Independent Bible Church, invites you to worship service each Sunday at 9 a.m.

Walnut Street Church of Christ, 714 W. Walnut St., Lock Haven, welcomes everyone to weekly worship services Sunday’s from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
